Edith Virginia Ruth Baker Parenti “Ginny”, 86, of Morgantown, Brookhaven community, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.
She was born on October 11, 1932, in Morgantown. She was a 1950, MHS graduate and one of 10 children of the late Joseph and Cora Baker. She was one of the “Baker Bunch” who grew up in the 1st Ward community of Morgantown.
Ginny is survived by her four children, Michael Parenti and wife, Sandra, Fred and wife, Sandra, Kevin and wife, Deborah, and Patricia Parenti-Hughes. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Amanda Parenti Randolph, Joshua Parenti, Erica Parenti, Jeremy Parenti, Shelly Parenti Deavers, and Lindsay Parenti; great-grandchildren, Dylan George, Savanna Patterson, Emma Patterson, Kaitlyn Randolph, Samantha Randolph, Giovanna Parenti and Valentina Parenti.
In addition to her parents, Ginny was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Parenti; her six brothers, Vaughn “Bud” Baker, Harry Baker, Gerald Frederick Baker, Ervin Baker, Joe “June” Baker, and Franklin Baker; and her three sisters, Mildred “Sis” Baker Crytser, Rena Baker Crytser, and Erma Baker Drury.
Ginny was a lifelong Brookhaven “MOM”. She married Joe on September 23, 1951. Together, they joined many other young beginning families who came to Brookhaven to build their homes, start their families, and build a special Brookhaven community. She was a true “Brookhaven”, stay-at-home Mom. Joe and Ginny were like so many other young couples at that period of time, post WWII–eager to get started and willing to work hard to fulfill their dreams. One of Ginny’s pleasures was bowling, which she bowled for many years. As she bowled, she made many great friends and enjoyed going on those bowling trips which would take her all over the U.S.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, and from 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, until the time of service at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Janice Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
