Donna Huffington passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019. Donna was born Donna Mary Edwards, in Parkersburg, on September 29, 1942. Her parents were Donald Graham Edwards and Mary Elizabeth Monroe Edwards.
Donna was raised and went to school in Morgantown and graduated from Morgantown High School in 1960. She married Joe Edward Leaseburg on February 25, 1961, in Morgantown. Donna moved to Lubbock Texas in 1972, and attended Texas Tech University, where she obtained her bachelors and masters degree in Food Technology. She then moved to California and lived there from 1980 to 1992, and married L.D. Gordon in 1982. She moved back to Lubbock in 1992, and attended Covenant School of Nursing, where she became a registered nurse. She worked as a nurse at Alpha Plasma Donation Center and worked for Hospice of Lubbock until she retired in 2014.
Donna was a member of the First United Methodist Church, of Lubbock, and the Through The Bible Sunday school class. She was a member of the churches Shawl Ministry and a supporter of the Church Music Department.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Marci Payne; her son-in-law, Jay Payne and three grandchildren, Taylor Wright-Ward, Lia Payne and Eric Payne.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Music Department, First United Methodist Church, 1411 Broadway, Lubbock, TX 79401.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life of 76 years at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, followed by a reception at Lake Ridge Chapel.
