Doris Arlena Yeager English, 85, of Smithfield, Pa., entered into the presence of her Lord on December 22, 2018, in Hudson, Fla., surrounded by her family.
Dorie was born December 30, 1932, in Mercer, Pa., to Harry and Anna Graham Yeager. She graduated from Mercer High School in 1950, and from Grove City College with a degree in education in 1954. In 1955, she married Robert Samuel English. They were blessed with four children, Gregory, Lisa, David, and Robert Jr. The family made their home in Morgantown and then Cheat Lake, and then in White House, Pa.
Dorie and her husband, Bob, came to trust in Jesus Christ through a neighborhood Bible study, in Morgantown. This event changed their lives and the lives of their entire family. Dorie was a member of the CMA church in Morgantown. There she served as a Deaconess, a ladies Bible study leader, and often visited shut-ins and widows. She enjoyed spending time with her family, tennis, painting, and reading. Dorie had a fun-loving and compassionate personality. She was deeply loved by her family and friends.
Dorie was predeceased by her two brothers, George and Paul Yeager; and a granddaughter, Christina Joy Long.
She is survived by her husband Robert of 63 years; her four children, Greg (Edie Brown) English, Lisa (William) Long, David (Amy) English, and Robert Jr. (Lisa) English; 12 grandchildren, Kristin (Matthew) Shisler, Anna English Staros, Joshua (Samantha) Long, Amber English, Jeremy (Haley) Long, Aaron (Breanna) English, Carissa (Andrew) Payne, Addison English, Janelle English, Liana English, Josiah English, Nathaniel English; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, in Morgantown, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, with the funeral following at 11:30 a.m. with the Reverends Douglas Miller and David English officiating.
