Two arrested following burglary report on McLane Avenue

MORGANTOWN — Two people have been arrested following a reported burglary on Christmas Eve in Morgantown.
Paul Shaffer, 28, of Masontown, and Joshua Crawford, 34, of Morgantown, were charged with burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary. They are being held in North Central Regional Jail.
According to a press release, at 11:55 p.m. Monday, Morgantown Police responded to a reported burglary in progress in the 500 block of McLane Avenue. Officers heard glass breaking and a woman scream.
Officers confronted two men wearing dark clothing with hoods pulled over their heads who were leaving the rear of the residence where police had heard screaming, the release stated.
Officers confronted the suspects who initially ignored police demands and began to leave the area. They then stopped and dropped gloves and other items to the ground. The suspects were detained while other officers entered the residence to check on the occupants.
According to the release, officers found the victim of the burglary locked in a room in the residence. A protective sweep was conducted by the officers to insure there were no other suspects inside the residence.
Police recovered jewelry from the suspects at the time of the arrests.
