MORGANTOWN — In a quad-match against Fairmont Senior High, East Fairmont and Parkersburg South, University’s wrestling team finished with a record of 2-1.
The Hawks defeated Fairmont Senior 61-12, East Fairmont 41-19, but lost to Class AAA No. 1 Parkersburg South 60-7.
Jake Staud (126 lbs), Jacob Simpson (132 lbs) and Josh Sanders (195 lbs) each finished undefeated in all three matches. Matthew Simpson (120 lbs), Brise Bennett (138 lbs), Elijah Wellings-Osha (154 lbs), Braeden Pauley (160 lbs) and Will Miller (170 lbs) finished 2-1.
“Great team effort,” UHS coach Ken Maisel said. “Everybody did the job they were suppose to do.”
University will play again Friday and Saturday at the Wheeling Park Duals at Wesbanco Arena in Wheeling.
