Lonny E. Myers, 62, passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, at his home with his loving family at his side, following a brief illness.
Born in Uniontown on April 23, 1956, he was a son of the late Omer and Naomi L. (Daniels) Myers.
A 1974 graduate of Albert Gallatin High School, he was a coal miner, having worked in area mines for more than 33 years, first at Osage, then Loverage and retiring from Blacksville No. 2. He was a member of the Springhill Furnace Presbyterian Church, the UMWA, District No. 31, and a social member of the F.O.E., American Legion and VFW, all of Point Marion.
Lonny loved to hunt and be outdoors, was also active in the Independent Pool League in Uniontown and enjoyed helping his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Patti (Polm) Myers, whom he married Aug. 10, 1984; four children and their spouses, Loretta and John Dennis, of Lake Lynn, Michele and Jason Hull, of Fairchance, Lonny Myers II and Valerie, of Smithfield, and Krystal and Steven Sharpnack, of Masontown, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Brian Scott and Gail Myers, of Seigal, Pa., and Rodney and Barbara Myers, of Lake Lynn; and three sisters and their husbands, Lois and Kenneth Lindsey, of Uniontown, Luana and John Catlett and Susan Austin, all of Smithfield; a number of nieces and nephews; and many friends and co-workers.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Cheryl Isler and Loretta Myers in infancy.
Friends will be receive at the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home in Point Marion, from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, and from 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, until the 11 a.m. service, with Pastor Dave McElroy officiating.
