Laura Jean Jimmie, 88, of Morgantown, formerly of Granville, passed away Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at Mon Health Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 29, 1930, in Fair-mont, a daughter of the late James Harter Holt and Harriet Peck Holt.
Laura Jean graduated from Fairmont State with a teaching degree and was a longtime teacher, primarily at St. Francis High School. She was an avid and knowledgeable sports fan and followed the WVU Mountaineers and Pittsburgh Steelers faithfully. She also enjoyed reading and was a history buff.
Laura Jean is survived by her two sons, Stephen H. Jimmie and wife, Diana, of Palm Beach, Fla., and Wayne Jimmie and wife, Melanie, of Morgantown, with whom she made her home; five grandchildren, Daniel and wife, Holly, Christopher, Dominic, Anthony and wife, Trish, and Angelina; three great-grandchildren, Abegale, Logan and Nash; brother-in-law, Johnny Jimmie and wife, Phyllis, of Bellview; and several nieces and nephews.
Laura Jean was preceded in death by her husband Sammy Jimmie in 2011; three sisters, Christine Mason, Doris Fiber and Mary Ellen Prickett; and one brother, Richard Holt.
Friends may call at McCulla Funeral Home,770 Fairmont Road, Westover from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, and from 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, until the 11 a.m. funeral service with theRev. Mr. Joseph Prentiss officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery.
