MORGANTOWN — Applications are being accepted through Feb. 15 for the 2019 Health Career Scholarships through the Mon Health Medical Center Foundation.
Applications can be found at monhealth.com/fdn. Each scholarship is worth $1,000 per student, per year, and can be used for tuition, room and board, books and lab fees. Recipients will be notified by April 20.
More than 30 scholarships are usually awarded each year to students who choose to go into select health care professions and meet scholastic and financial need requirements.
To be eligible for a scholarship, you must be a resident of Monongalia, Preston, Marion, Taylor, Wetzel, Harrison or Tucker counties in West Virginia, or Fayette or Greene counties in Pennsylvania.
Eligible career fields are:
- Biomedical engineering
- Dietitian
- Emergency medical technician/paramedic
- Family practice/primary care physician
- Health information technology
- Medical assistant
- Medical laboratory technician
- Medical technologist
- Nursing (associate, diploma, BSN, MSN)
- Registered nurse first assistant
- Nurse practitioner
- Pharmacy
- Pharmacy technician
- Physician assistant
- Radiology technologist
- Sterile processing technician
- Surgical and central supply technology
- Ultrasound technologist
The Mon Health Medical Center Foundation created the Health Career Scholarship Program in 1991 to promote health care careers in fields with projected worker shortages in the Morgantown area. Selection is made by a sub-committee of the Board of Directors of The Foundation.
