MORGANTOWN — Your Community Foundation of North Central West Virginia Inc. (YCF) announced the distribution of 14 grants totaling over $117,000 to local nonprofits through the YCF Community Grant Program.
Awards range from $1,000 to $26,000 and support many community-oriented programs, events and activities in the region that YCF serves.
The nonprofit organizations receiving grants include: Arts Monongahela, CASA for Kids of Monongalia and Preston Counties, Empty Bowls Monongalia, Friends of Deckers Creek, The Homestead Farm Center, Milan Puskar Health Right, Monongalia Child Advocacy Center, Monongalia County Health Department, Mountaineers for Mutts, Pantry Plus More Inc., Preston County Caring Council, Rape & Domestic Violence Information Center, Spark! Imagination and Science Center, and United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties.
“YCF received outstanding proposals across north-central West Virginia from many important nonprofit organizations,” said Dr. Ranjit Majumder, chair of the YCF community grant committee.
“Each organization serves our community in a unique and significant way. Several organizations focus on improving health and social services while others enhance arts and cultural experiences for the citizens of our region.”
“We congratulate all the grant recipients on their outstanding efforts,” said YCF President Patty Showers Ryan. During the 2018 community grant cycle, YCF received 29 applications with needs surpassing $300,000. “YCF’s competitive grant process reveals important community needs and the creative ways local nonprofits are addressing those needs.”
The YCF Community Grant Program is supported, in part, by the YCF Regional Granting Fund, which was established to respond to local community needs.
“Additional donations from our community members are always welcome to boost the grant dollars awarded,” Ryan said.
