James D. “Jim” Kirkendall, age 80, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at WVU Medicine. Jim was born in Star City, on May 20, 1938, a son of the late Edward and Wanda Powley Kirkendall.
Jim worked for many years at the Loveridge Mine as a coal miner. In his free time, he enjoyed ATV riding, working on cars, and going to the Sagebrush Roundup. His greatest quality was his big heart, helping anyone in need.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Pamela Coon and husband Richard, of Morgantown; son, Mike Kirkendall and wife Kim, of Morgantown; sisters, Loretta Lee, of Star City, Betty Sue Pekar and her husband Andy, of Bobtown, Pa.; brother, Dan Kirkendall and his wife Nancy, of Morgantown; grandchildren, Tara Kirkendall, Bridget Kirkendall, Marcella Barto and husband Doug, and Amy Trickett and husband Robert; great-grandchildren, Kaylie Laskody, Jaxon Barto, Mikayla Barto, and Lena Trickett; special friend, Blue Bird Robbins; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was reunited with his wife of 49 years, Patty Kirkendall; and brothers, Paul, Bob, and Don Kirkendall.
Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home from 2 – 4 p.m. and 5:30-8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, and from 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18, until the 11 a.m. funeral service with Pastor Gwen McKinley officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery.
