Deputies called to armed home invasion early Thursday morning

MORGANTOWN — A paralyzed man and his caregiver were the victims of an armed home invasion early Thursday morning.

Deputies with the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department were alerted to the robbery just after 4 a.m., Chief Deputy Al Kisner said.

One man armed with a small black gun and a second man armed with a long knife broke into the paralyzed man’s Woodside apartment, just off of Scott Avenue, Kisner said.

Neither the man nor his caretaker were injured during the robbery. The caregiver told deputies the man with a knife never pulled it from its sheath, Kisner said.

Both men were described as white men wearing dark clothing with their faces covered. One was tall and slender the other was described as shorter, Kisner said.

The sheriff’s department is not releasing what items were stolen due to the on-going investigation, Kisner said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s department at 304-291-7260.
