Clyde Henry Lewis, 83, of Jakes Run passed away Dec. 4, 2018.
He was the son of the late John Henry Lewis and Maggie Belle Smith Lewis. Clyde was born in Osage on July 5, 1935.
Clyde served in the United States Army for 20 years with two tours in Vietnam. After retirement, he went to work at the Loveridge Mine and worked there for 13 years and then went to University Health Science Center and worked there for 12 years. Mr. Lewis was a member of the Jakes Run United Methodist Church at the time that it closed.
Surviving is his wife, Pearl Brookover Lewis; a son, Clyde H. Lewis Jr., of Gulfport, Miss.; one daughter, Bell Donna Reynolds, of Core; one sister, Charlotte Tennant, of Harve De Grace, Md.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the VA, Morgantown Hospice and the two caregivers, Joey Dille and Amy Grazulis, who gave him such loving care and comforted his family during his illness and their time of sorrow.
Friends and family will be received at Owen-Neely Funeral Home, in Blacksville, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, with Pastor Stanley Merrifield officiating. Interment will follow at Olive Cemetery, in Pentress, where full military honors will be provided.
