Randolph County murder suspect arrested in Mon County

MORGANTOWN — At about 4:20 p.m. Nov. 29, the U.S. Marshals Service, along with members of the Mountain State Fugitive Task Force, arrested Randolph County fugitive Vanessa Fay Logan without incident at the Healthy Heights Mobile Home Park in Morgantown.
According to a U.S. Marshals Service press release, she was charged with first-degree murder Nov. 18 in Randolph County after law enforcement officers were called to a residence off Gum Road and discovered a man who had been shot to death in the living room of the residence. Police say Logan fled the scene before they arrived.
On Nov. 27, Randolph County Sheriff’s Department referred the murder warrant for Logan to the U.S. Marshals Service. Leads pointed to Monongalia County, and about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Marshals and task force officers saw Logan at the mobile home park, where they then arrested her and delivered her to local authorities so she could appear before the county magistrate.
“The United States Marshals Service is pleased we were able to apprehend this dangerous fugitive in such a short time frame,” said Alex P. Neville, chief deputy U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of West Virginia. “The community is now safer than it was with her on the run, and justice may now be served.”
