Joanne Summers, 87, of Westover, passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, at Mon Health Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 20, 1931, in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Joseph Gaschler and Lillian Allen Gaschler.
Joanne was retired court clerk for the Monongalia County Circuit Court Office. She was an avid reader and was active in the Westover community. Joanne was a member of the Westside Senior Center and loved going on their cruises and trips to Myrtle Beach. She had also been a member of the Westover Women’s Club, where she helped prepare meals for the Lions Club. She loved to bowl, was active in many leagues and operated the youth bowling leagues at Sycamore Lanes for many years. Joanne lived a wonderful life and was the very best mom a woman could be. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Joanne is survived by two daughters, Cathy Wolfe and husband, Kenzy, of Westover, and Suzy Summers, of Westover; grandchildren, Danny Wolfe and wife, Tammie, Sheryl Saunders and husband, Eric, and Robert Wolfe and companion, Ginny Thomas; great-grandchildren, Eric Saunders, Isaac Saunders and Emily Saunders; sister, Betty Arroyo, of Ohio; and brothers, Joseph Gaschler, of Florida, and Robert Gaschler, of Texas.
Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Summers; sisters, Mary Straface, Eleanor Rogers and Roberta Barazi; and brothers, Harold Gaschler and Bill Gaschler.
Flowers will be accepted, but those desiring can make contributions to the Westover Lions Club.
Friends may call at McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, and from 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, until the 11 a.m. funeral service with Pastor Doug Strother officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah Cemetery.
