Donald Milton Gross, 84, of Morgantown, died Monday, November 19, 2018, at Morgantown Health and Rehabilitation Center with his family at his bedside.
He was born in Pittsburgh on March 29, 1934, a son of the late Marion Franklin Gross and Helen Margaret Murphy Gross.
He was a graduate of South Hills High School of Pittsburgh and of Juniata College, in Huntingdon, Pa., class of 1959.
A veteran of the Korean War, Don served in the United States Army from November of 1953, to September of 1955.
Following graduation from college, Don began a long career with The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, managing grocery warehouses in Pittsburgh, Buffalo, N.Y. and Syracuse, N.Y. In 1978, he assumed warehouse management responsibilities for Fox Groceries in W.Va. When retired, he volunteered as a driver for In Touch and Concerned and for many years delivered meals for Morgantown Meals on Wheels.
A loving husband and father, Don is survived by Suzanne Weller Gross, his best friend and spouse for 62 years and children, John (Linda) Gross, Robert Gross; and Suzanne (Mark) Gross Goins. A devoted grandfather, he cherished each of his five grandchildren, Collin Gross, Olivia Gross, Hannah Gross, Grace Goins, Lauren Gross. Don is also survived by his beloved sister, Sue (Bob) Gross Fee and nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Gross, Judy (Bob) Gross Merwin, Virginia (Chuck) Gross .Dobson, Nancy Fee, Doug (Jean) Fee.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles John Gross.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation services have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home.
A private family entombment will take place at a later time at the Suncrest United Methodist Church Columbarium.
