Larry Allen Wiles Sr., 74, of Tunnelton, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, November 20, 2018.
Larry was born on August 15, 1944, at home in Blazer, a son of the late Edward and Daisy (Riley) Wiles.
He was a faithful member of Living Faith Church, where he enjoyed helping with Excel Youth Camp, fundraisers and church services. Larry attended Tunnelton High then entered the Army in July 1965, where he took basic training at Fort. Knox. Larry also attended Missile School, at Fort Sills, Okla. and also took eight weeks of Engineer Training, at Fort Lenard, in Wood, Mo. Larry was then deployed to Viet Nam from July 1965, to October 1967. He was active in the Army Reserves for almost 20 years, during which he was again deployed to Dessert Storm in Saudi Arabia in 1991. Larry retired from Sterling Faucet after working for many years. Larry enjoyed driving, hunting, fishing, camping and time with his grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his ex-wife and friend, Deanna Wiles; five children, Gary Swonger, of Elyria Ohio, Michele Wiles Kennedy and husband Timothy, of Howesville, Larry A. Wiles Jr., of Tunnelton, Joseph Wiles, of Fairmont, Jessica Mercure and husband Sam, of Philippi; three sisters, Elaine Martin, of Warren Ohio, Naomi Shahan and husband John Shahan, of Tunnelton, and Rosemary Eckerode, of Warren Ohio; two brothers, Jerry Wiles and wife Betty, of South Amherst, Ohio and Kenneth Wiles, of Massillon Ohio; six grandchildren, Briana Kennedy, Nathan Kennedy, Coty Kennedy, Logan Kennedy, Lauren Kennedy, Calvin Mercure and Ally Mercure; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe Wiles and James Wiles; and two sisters, Louise Gordon and Betty Wiles.
Friends and family will be received at Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapelfrom 4 – 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24, and from noon on Sunday, Nov. 25, until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ernie Rowan officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. View Cemetery, Tunnelton, where Military honors will be accorded by the Preston County Honor Guard and WVANG Military Funeral Honors, Camp Dawson.
