The Lord gained a special person to sit by his side on Nov. 14, 2018. Mark Wayne Smith Sr. passed away at the home he shared with his long time girlfriend of 26 years, Bonnie (Phillips) Simmons, of Tunnelton.
Mark is the son of the Late Prentice and Norma Jean Smith. He was born on Aug. 3, 1960, in Kingwood,
He was working for GCR Tire, in Fairmont, at the time of his passing. He was employed with them for 19 years, and was a very hard and dedicated worker until his illness progressed.
He is survived by two sons, Mark Wayne Smith Jr. and spouse, Renee, and two sons, Colby and Cody; and David Allen Smith. He is also survived by two sisters, Penny Smith and Carolyn Shaffer and spouse, Larry, of Independence; also two nieces and two nephews.
He is also survived by Bonnie’s children, whom he considered his family and loved very much, Scott Simmons and spouse, Stacy, and five children, Anna Owens and partner, Steven Konkolesky, and two children, Jennifer Birmingham and spouse, Michael, and two children, and Christie Brand and spouse, Uriah and four children.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, paternal grandparents, maternal grandparents, his brother, a niece and a stepgrandchild.
After an autopsy is finished, his body will be donated to science. His ashes will then be given to Bonnie Simmons to be placed in his final resting place.
This is all per his wishes. There will be a graveside service at that time. Mark did not want a full funeral or a memorial, and I will carry out his wishes. Any donations should be made to a mental health organization.
