Sandy Kay Piacitelli, 65, of Morgantown, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born on November 7, 1952, in Morgantown, the daughter of the late Howard and Clarcie (Fulk) McClead.
Sandy graduated from Morgantown High School in 1970. She was employed by the federal government for over 38 years with the Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Bureau of Mines, and NIOSH.
She enjoyed traveling across the country and Europe with her husband and spending time with her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Boma”. She was a very generous person who found time to contribute or help others in any way she could.
To honor that spirit of generosity, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, you consider volunteering your time or making a donation to your favorite charity in her memory.
She is survived by her husband, Chris Piacitelli; children, Amanda Knutsen and husband, Eric, Drew Nieman and wife, Megan; grandchildren, Parker and Emmeline Knutsen, and Kaden and Kash Nieman; siblings, John McClead, Dotty Moore and husband, Ken; niece, Kendra DeGidio and husband, Russ; parents-in-law, John and Lela Piacitelli, brothers- and sisters-in-law, Greg and Laurie Piacitelli, Mark and Laura Piacitelli, Paul and Leslie Piacitelli, Denise and Aaron VanAlstine, John Piacitelli, Mike and Jill Piacitelli and Steve and Dawn Piacitelli; former mother-in-law, Emily Nieman and family; as well as many friends whom she considered family.
In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her former father-in-law, Hugh Nieman.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home from noon – 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11, and from 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 12, until the time of service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Lynda Masters officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
