WVU Wind Symphony will embrace the elements in concert

MORGANTOWN — The WVU Wind Symphony will present “Elemental” at 7:30 p.m. Monday at WVU’s Creative Arts Center.

The WVU Wind Symphony is comprised of about 50 of the finest wind and percussion students at WVU. Performing literature of the highest caliber, the wind symphony presents multiple concerts each semester at local, regional and national venues.

“Elemental” will include pieces surround earth, water, air and fire. The program includes “Mother Earth” by David Maslanka and “Ecstatic Waters” by Steven Bryant, among other works.

The concert is part of WVU’s College of Creative Arts Curiosity Series, a sampling of the diverse art events that happen in the college each year. These events feature students, faculty and internationally acclaimed guest artists hosted by the School of Art & Design, School of Music and School of Theatre & Dance. Exhibitions at the Art Museum of WVU feature artists from West Virginia and around the world.

To show appreciation for other colleges and schools around campus, the College of Creative Arts will offer faculty and staff free tickets to selected events in the Curiosity Series. The WVU Wind Symphony Concert has been named Eberly Night. All Eberly College faculty and staff can enjoy “Elemental” free of charge by showing their WVU ID at the door.

WVU Wind Symphony will perform in the Clay Theatre at the Creative Arts Center.
