John Frederick “Fred” Logan

John Frederick “Fred” Logan, 81, formerly of Morgantown, entered into heaven Sept. 27, 2018, in Hideaway, Texas.
Born in May 1937, in Uniontown, Pa., Fred was a graduate of WVU, with a love for chemistry. His career as a registered pharmacist took him to Wheeling, Corning, N.Y., Fairmont and a variety of local pharmacies in Morgantown, where he settled with his family — eventually retiring from WVU Hospitals Inc. in 1997.
He is survived by his wife, Janet, of Hideaway; sister, Marjorie Thomas, of Phoenix; son, Michael and wife, Christine, of Santa Clara, Calif.; and granddaughter, Rachael Emily
at the University of Washington, Seattle, with whom he shared his affinity for chemistry.
He was preceded in death by parents, John and Mildred; and a brother, William.
He was cared for, in sickness and in health, with love, by Janet, through 58 years of marriage and with the gracious assistance of his sister, Marjorie, in-laws Gary Thomas, Margie and David McDonald, Roger and Sandra Starnes and Linda Shillingburg.

Fred was kind, gentle, unassuming and studious, continuing college coursework even while his son attended WVU, often doing homework together at the kitchen table. He loved his work, his friends, helping his “patients” as “Dr. Fred,” and provided a wonderful life and future for his family. He enjoyed gardening, reading mystery novels, taking his son to buy comic books on Saturdays and collecting many, many tools.
Fred was a 50-year member of the Joseph W. Summers Lodge No. 173 in Morgantown, and frequented meetings throughout the state.
Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home, Morgantown, from 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, until the 11 a.m. memorial service with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Entombment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, in Morgantown.
