Robert Carl Gibson Sr.

Robert Carl Gibson Sr., 85, of Chaplin Road, Morgantown, passed away, Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at WVU Medicine Hospice.

He was born April 1, 1933, in Masontown,  a son of the late Paul Gibson and Emma Molisee Gibson.
Robert worked as a coal miner and also worked for Gibson Reclamation. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. Robert’s hobbies were working on his farm and hunting.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Diana (Ronald) Moore, of Morgantown, Teresa (Sonny) Lewis, of Morgantown, and Patty (Terry) McCrobie, of Reedsville; sons, Robert (Joyce) Gibson Jr., of Maidsville, Paul (Carol) Gibson Sr., of Morgantown, and Kenneth Burns Jr., of Morgantown; sisters, Bonnie Jean Gibson, of Ohio, and Marlene (Joe) Jenkins, of Pentress; brother, George (Mary Gibson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his dog, Smokey.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Johnson Gibson; daughter, Mary Alice Gillespie; sister, Nettie Alice Nuce; and brothers, Henry Gibson, Junior Leroy Gibson, Virgil Gibson, Delmer Gibson, Melvin Gibson, Teddy Gibson, John Gibson and Ray Gibson.
Friends may call at McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover, from 4-8 p.m. Monday, and from 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, until the 11 a.m. funeral service with the Rev. Dan Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery with graveside military honors conferred by the Westover VFW Post 9916 and the WVANG military honors.
