Fallout 76’s Vault Boy will make appearance Saturday at Bridge Day

FAYETTEVILLE — Fallout 76’s Vault Boy will return to West Virginia to meet with spectators, Saturday at the 39th annual Bridge Day at the New River Gorge Bridge.
The appearance is part of West Virginia Tourism Office’s recent partnership with Bethesda Softworks, the video game maker behind Fallout 76.
Tourism officials and Bethesda will work together to promote the upcoming release of Fallout 76, an online open world video game set in the Mountain State.
“We’re so excited to welcome Vault Boy back to West Virginia,” said Tourism Commissioner Chelsea Ruby. “While the game is set in a post-apocalyptic version of West Virginia, this partnership allows us to showcase the real elements and sites of the game in their true, natural beauty. By bringing Vault Boy to Bridge Day, gamers, spectators and residents alike will have a chance to see and experience the real Almost Heaven.”
On Saturday, visitors there to watch base jumpers dive off the 876-foot New River Gorge Bridge can stop by and strike a pose with Vault Boy at the Tourism Office booth.
“This game is bringing West Virginia into the national spotlight, and through this partnership, we’re able to increase exposure and visitation to many of our famous sights and events, like Bridge Day,” said Ruby.
Every year on the third Saturday in October, the New River Gorge Bridge is closed to traffic as certified base jumpers launch themselves from the top of the highest bridge in the Western Hemisphere. Bridge Day 2018 will be from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. For a full schedule of events, visit OfficialBridgeDay.com.
Fallout 76 will feature six West Virginia regions, including the New River Gorge Bridge.
More announcements from the Tourism Office and Bethesda Softworks will made in coming weeks. To stay up-to-date at WVtourism.com/Fallout76.
