Frances Lucille Knotts, 90, of Marquess Community, Fellowsville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, at her residence with family by her side.
She was born Aug. 1, 1928, in Newburg, daughter of the late Arthur E. and Arizona Wolfe Matlick.
Lucille retired from Sterling Faucets with 35 years of service as assembly worker. She loved flowers, gardening and going shopping. She previously attended the Mount Zion United Methodist Church and Newburg Senior Center.
Lucille is survived by three children, Donald Paul Knotts and wife, Maida, of Marquess, Frances “June” Friend and husband, David, of Rowlesburg, and Barbara Jean Knotts, of Marquess; eight grandchildren, Jimmy Davis and wife, Robin, of Rowlesburg, Donna Shahan and husband, Tom, of Laurel Mountain, Darren Phillips and wife, Cookie, of Marquess, Paula Matheny and companion, Chris Sisler, of Independence, Rhonda Larew and fiancé, Jesse Degarmo, Dee Dee Hemingway and husband, David, of Rowlesburg, DJ Friend and wife, Mindy, of Rowlesburg, Dawna Ashby and husband, Mike, of Oakland, Md.; 20 great-grandchildren, Logan, Emily, Jesse, TJ, Carrie, Dixie, Brandon, Levi, Jacob, Levi, Emily, Britney, Deborah, Stephanie, Hanah, John, Ryan, Jisiah, Gabriel and Conner; six great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Velma Shaffer, of Philippi; longtime companion, Luther Shahan; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Paul Knotts in 2000; one grandson, Kevin Knotts in 1989; one great-grandson, Gabriel Gribble in 2000; two brothers, Howard Matlick and Harold Matlick; and two sisters, Hazel Zinn and Elsie Shingleton.
Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown St., Newburg, from 1-7 p.m. Saturday, and from noon Sunday, Oct. 21, until the 2 p.m. service
with the Rev. Sam Cline officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery with the Rev. Sam Cline officiating.
