John R. Banister, 86, of Rowlesburg, died Monday, October 15, 2018, at Preston Memorial Hospital, in Kingwood, with family by his side.
He was born May 5, 1932, in Portland, Ore., a son of the late Harry and Nellie Banister.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a pilot and owned his own plane. He served in the U S Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Before he retired John worked as an electronic technician for Comsat and AT&T.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara Long Banister; his two sons, John Banisterm of Enum Claw, Wash. and David Banister, of Fairmont; his daughter, Raimona Rowe, of Cortland, N.Y.; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca.
A memorial service will be held at the Browning Funeral Home, in Kingwood, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018, with Pastor Kevin Kiplinger officiating.
