Gladys Elizabeth Stemple, 91, of Kingwood, died on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, at Preston Memorial Hospital.
Gladys was born April 19, 1927, in Tickleback, to the late Frederick Edward and Rella Irene (Davy) Blake.
She was a 1944 graduate of University High School. Gladys loved cooking, crossword puzzles, quilting, playing cards, and most of all, being with her family and her dog, Princess.
She is survived by one son and spouse, William and Nancy Stemple, of Arnoldsburg; three daughters and spouse, Betty L. DeWitt, of Kingwood, Mary C. and Kesslie Minney, of Alum Bridge, Janice E. Stemple, of Kingwood; one brother, Thomas Blake, of Roanoke; two sisters, Nancy Jane Blake, of Morgantown, Betty Hurd, of Charleston; five grandchildren and spouses, Scott and Roz DeWitt, of Kingwood, Connie and Mike Summers,, of Orma, Trisha and Russell Knicely, of Orma, Courtney Templon, of Kingwood, Wally Stemple, of Hagerstown; 11 great-grandchildren and spouse, Nathan and Nina DeWitt, Nicholas DeWitt, River and Riley Templon, Kiersten, Brooklyn and Russell Knicely Jr., Aislin Summers, Catlin Knicely, of Orma, Steven Knicely, of Parkersburg, Nickie Nida of Spencer; and seven great-great-grandchildren, Jameson Edward DeWitt, Zola Elizabeth DeWitt, Kaileah Brooke Boatwright, Jayden Knicely, Hannah Knicely, Wyatt Knicely, Micah Nida.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Wallace D. Stemple; one son, Wallace D. Stemple Jr.; three brothers, Frederick, James and Robert Blake; one sister, Mary Spiker; one son-in-law, Charles DeWitt.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel from 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. with A. Craig Rotruck officiating. Interment will be privately held in Maplewood Cemetery.
