James “Mike” Michael Matheny, 69, of Westover, passed away October 9, 2018, at his home.
He was born on February 15, 1949. He was adopted at the age of 3, by the late Jack and Frances (Currey) Matheny.
Mike enjoyed caring for hunting dogs of his own and others. He loved gardening, cooking, fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed yearly hunting expeditions to Canada for over 20 years. He spent 17 years working at Sterling Faucet and 30 years working for Vaughn Kiger doing maintenance.
James is survived by his wife of 33 years, Delores Pyles Matheny; his daughter, Ashley Frances Matheny; two children from a previous marriage, Kim Govi, of Calif. and James M. Matheny, Jr., of Morgantown; brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith Pyles and wife Carolyn, of Granville, Randy Pyles and companion Brenda Jordan, of Reedsville, Rose Stone and husband Ronnie, of Kingwood and Michele Pyles and companion Harvey Burke, of Reedsville; three special nephews, Keith Pyles Jr., Shane Burke and Benjamin Moore; two special nieces, Theresa Moore and husband Wesley and Shiela Stone and an aunt, Sally Kisner, of Bethlehem, Pa.
Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home, in Masontown, from 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday, October 12. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, with Pastor Marty Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Reedsville.
