MORGANTOWN — A man who allegedly used an axe to try and break down a door during an argument was arrested by the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department early Monday morning.
Gary Brian Gooden was arrested and charged with attempted malicious assault, Sheriff Perry Palmer said.
He said deputies responded to a domestic dispute about 2:30 a.m. Monday on Hawkins Run Road, in the western part of the county.
Gooden and the victim were in an altercation when the victim locked herself in the bathroom, Palmer said.
He said Gooden then used an axe to attempt to break down the door until deputies arrived and arrested him.
