MORGANTOWN — West Virginia Public Theatre (WVPT) presents auditions for “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
“It’s a Wonderful Life” will run Dec. 14-16 and Dec. 19-20 at the Creative Arts Cente. Two audition dates have been selected for the holiday show: Saturday and Sunday.
Pittsburgh auditions will be Saturday at the PICT Theatre, 2403 Sidney St. No. 235, from 10 a.m.- noon and from 1-4 p.m. Local auditions will be from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday at the WVU Creative Arts Center, Room 2021, 1436 Evansdale Dr.
“It’s a Wonderful Life” stars George Bailey, who wishes he had never been born. When his guardian angel grants George’s wish, the consequences are devastating. “It’s a Wonderful Life” reminds audiences of the value of human life.
The character breakdown for the show includes:
- George Bailey — male, 30s. A dreamer whose hopes have been repeatedly dashed by his choosing to do the right thing.
- Mary Bailey — female, 30s. George’s warm, loving generous wife.
- Potter — male, 60s. The richest, meanest man in town with the soul of a snake.
- Harry — male, 30s. George’s kid brother who has accomplished much by standing on George’s shoulders.
- Uncle Billy — male, 60s. George’s good-hearted but forgetful uncle and partner.
- Clarence — male, 60s. George’s hapless guardian angel who’s been trying to win his wings for centuries.
- Ensemble
Actors are asked to bring a prepared 1 1/2- to 2-minute monologue, a headshot and a resume. WVPT also accepts video submissions sent to info@wvpub lictheatre.org.
