National Weather Service issues tornado warning for northeastern Mon County

MORGANTOWN — The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a tornado warning until 6:30 p.m. today for northeastern Monongalia County, eastern Greene County in southwestern Pennsylvania and southwestern Fayette County in southwestern Pennsylvania.

At about 6 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was spotted near Waynesburg, Pa., moving southeast at 30 mph.

Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

This storm will be near Masontown, Pa., at about 6:20 p.m. and Point Marion, Pa., at about 6:25 p.m. This includes Interstate 79 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 5 and 13.
