Jeffrey “Scott” Laurita, 53, of Morgantown, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018. Scott was born in Morgantown, on October 17, 1964, the son of John Laurita and the late Clair Barbara (Trasick) Laurita.
Scott was a 1982 graduate of St. Francis High School. He began working in the coal industry as a young man, and spent his life perfecting that craft. He started out with a trucking company called T&S Trucking. He then expanded that into a trucking and excavating company named JSL Limited, where he took on many jobs with other operators for 30 years. At the end of his career he was owner and operator of SCJL Co. leasing Corp. Inc. that mined and sold coal, with his family.
Scott is survived by his father, John Laurita; siblings, Lisa Laurita and Joe A. Laurita, III; aunts and uncles, James and Beverly Laurita, Joseph A. & Zelda Laurita, Jerry and JoAnn Laurita, and Joyce Laurita, all of Morgantown; a special cousin, Cara McCluskey, of Fla.; his beloved dogs, Rocko and Willie; as well as many other cousins and nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
Scott was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Clair Barbara (Trasick) Laurita.
Friends and family will be received at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, at noon on Friday, September 28, until the time of The Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m., with Father John V. DiBacco as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
