Phillip Carl Ayersman, Sr., 82, of Cheat Lake, Morgantown, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018, at Mon Health Medical Center.
Phillip was born on June 27, 1936, in West Virginia, the son of the late Paul Ayersman and Lavaid Chisler Ayersman.
During his lifetime, he served as Deputy Sheriff under Sheriff Charles Whiston; Constable for Monongalia County and worked as a coal miner at Pursglove Mine. He was a member of the UMWA, as well as a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp.
Phillip is survived by his loving wife, Doris Reynolds Ayersman; children, Vicki Dalton and spouse, J.J., Kay Adams and spouse, Clinton, Karla Strosnider and spouse, Edward, and Phillip C. Ayersman, Jr. and wife, Mary; grandchildren, Joshua Dalton, Tara Dalton-Taylor and spouse, Justin, Chad White, Zachery McManis, Hannah Strosnider-Turner and spouse, Shiloh, Daniel Strosnider and spouse, Casie, Garrett Ayersman, and Phillip C. Ayersman, III; great-grandchildren, Jayden Dalton and Eden Strosnider and one sister, Donna Jean Kusich.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and one sister.
A special thanks for all the good care provided by WV Caring and a special acknowledgement to Nurse Courtney who made a great impression on Phil.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Homefrom 4 -8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, and from 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, until the time of service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Daniel Strosnider officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Cemetery.
