University High’s girls’ soccer team had no trouble wth Weir High School on Tuesday night defeating the Red Raiders, 8-0.
Stephanie Chmiel and Kassidy Wolfe led the way for the Hawks with two goals apiece. Eva Bridges, Tristen Bright, and Ari Christiansen each scored goals as well. The eighth goal came from an own goal by Weir after a cross by Sarah Dorminey. Lizzy Edwards and Corinne Grabow shared the shutout in the net.
UHS (10-1-1) will play again at 11 a.m. Saturday against Hedgesville.

Buccaneer Invitational
Trinity Christian School freshman Peyton Dixon finished tenth at the Buccaneer Invitational at Buckhannon-Upshur with a time of 19:37.
Broadford Invitational
Preston High School swept the ten-team Broadford Invitational in Oakland, Md.
The girls nearly scored a perfect score with 18 points. Allie Martin won her second meet in a row in a time of 20:35. Fellow freshman, Chloe Stark was right behind in 20:51. Alexa Gorondy was in third (23:06) and Maryann Wolfe finished fourth (23:13). Lia Jennings closed out the scoring runners in eighth place.
For the boys, Trey Smith-Tatham picked up his first career win in 18:02. Hayden Thomas (18:44), Cole Friend (18:47), and John Daniel Barker (18:58) finished in seventh, eighth, and ninth place. Lowell Cerbone was the final scoring runner in 13th place (19:34).
JV golf
UHS 204, MHS 219: The Hawks beat the Mohigans as Alex Solomon led UHS with a score of 45. Other scorers were Matthew Payne (50), Brayden Wilson (52), Colin Duda (57), Ryan Burns (66), and Vincenzo Pinn (69).
MHS was led by Owen Newbold with a score of 53. Other scorers were Ethan Wise (54), Connor Decker (55), Isabella Ferrell (57), Patrick Koon (63), and Michael White (72).
