CLARKSBURG — A New York man was sentenced to seven years in prison for using a firearm during a robbery in Morgantown, United States Attorney Bill Powell announced.
Stephan Cotterrell, 21, of New York, New York, pleaded guilty to one count of use of a firearm during a crime of violence in April. He admitted to brandishing a .22-caliber revolver during a robbery in January 2017 in Morgantown.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda E. Wesley prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Mon Metro Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, and the Morgantown Police Department investigated. Senior U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided.
