Juanita Hamilton

Juanita Pearl Bartrug Hamilton, 83, of Fairmont (Winfield Community), passed away to her new life on Sept.  17, 2018.
Juanita was born in Mannington  on April 13, 1935, to the late Oscar Ray Bartrug and Edna Kendall Bartrug. Soon after her birth, the Bartrug family moved to the Winfield Community, on what is now named Bartrug Road, where she lived for the last 83 years.
Mrs. Hamilton attended the public school of Marion County and graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1952. While attending East Fairmont, she worked side-by-side with her mother at the Star-Lite Drive Inn concession stand. Starting her senior year, she began working at Bobbitt News and The Times West Virginian. During this time, she met her husband of 45 years, Charles Edwin Hamilton, of Mannington and Burnsville.
She married Charles on Oct.  10, 1952, at the Winfield United Methodist Church. They had their only child, Johnnie Ray Hamilton, on May 18, 1955.
Mr. Hamilton preceded his wife in death on  Feb. 4, 1998.
Juanita enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved being a stay-at-home mother, traveling, going to the beach and visiting friends and family. Family meant everything to Juanita. Her favorite vacations were cruises to Alaska and Hawaii. Juanita was a true West Virginian, enjoying the state’s natural beauty.
In addition to her parents and husband, Juanita was preceded in death by father-in-law, John Howard Hamilton; mother-in-law, Maud Hamilton; stepmother, Hazel Gay Gibson Hamilton; brother, Donald Ray Bartrug and his wife, Mary; sisters-in-law, Helen Hamilton, Wanda (Henry) Ezersky, Jean (Norman) Robinson, Leota May Curtis and her husband, Sam and Catherine (Ernie) Cottrill; and brothers-in-law, Virgil (Margaret) Hamilton and Earl Wayne Hamilton.
Juanita is survived by her loving son and caregiver, Johnnie Ray Hamilton, of Fairmont;  aunt, Donna Bartrug, of Washington; brother-in-law, Clarence Hamilton and partner, Evelyn Stephens, of Califorinia; nieces and nephews, David and Elaine Bartrug, of Fairmont,  Matthew and Nicole Bartrug, of Fairmont,  Jared Bartrug, of Fairmont, Tabetha and David Hamrick, of Shinnston, Tina Ezersky, of Pe and  Michael Ezersky, of Pa.; Sue and Bob Suba and family, of Pa.; Norma Jean and Barry Ealy, of Pa.; Robby Robson, of Pa.; Pam and Howard Smith, of Fla.; and Corabelle and William Bonesteel and family, of Va. and many, many nieces and nephews.
Juanita is also survived by special friends, Jerry Boyce, Dolores West, Loretta Starn, Earl and Freda Martin, Holly McGilton, Beverly and Amy Owens, Kisha Perkins, and John Samargo.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the care of Juanita to Care Partners, Marion County Senior Center, and especially, Amedysis Hospice.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, in Fairmont, from 1 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 20,  with services being held at at 11 a.m.  on Friday, September 21,  with Juanita’s nephews Deacon Larry Cottrill, Deacon Michael Hamilton, and Pastor Duane Bartrug officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
