CLARKSBURG — It was a tough road loss for the Preston High football team, falling 69-14 to Class AA No. 8 Robert C. Byrd on Friday night.
Byrd jumped out to a commanding 55-0 lead before the Knights (1-3) got their first touchdown on a Trevor Thomas pass to Hunter Lantz from 26 yards out.
Ghovan Davidson and Jeremiah King each had 100 yards rushing for the Eagles, combining for 291 yards on 17 carries. Quarterback Xavier Lopez went 6-of-8 for 147 yards and two touchdowns.
For Preston, Colten Rosenberger led the team with 95 yards rushing on four carries. Thomas finished with 41 yards.
Preston will travel to Lewis County at 7:30 p.m. next Friday.
