MORGANTOWN — Three people were arrested and drugs, including fentanyl, were seized in two raids by the Mon Metro Drug Task Force on Wednesday morning.
One raid was conducted at 337 Old Cheat Road. Sgt. R. Jiles, task force commander, said the task force was assisted by members of Morgantown Police Department’s Special Response Team (SRT).
According to a criminal complaint for Amber Lopez, 23, of Morgantown, law enforcement found three ounces of fentanyl, packaging materials, scales and money in a bedroom safe. Lopez admitted the safe was hers, the criminal complaint stated.
The key to the safe was found on a key ring belonging to Lorenzo Holloway, 41, of Philadelphia, according to his criminal complaint.
Jiles said three ounces is a large amount of fentanyl. A criminal complaint estimated the drugs have a street value of about $12,000.
Lopez and Holloway are both charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and are in North Central Regional Jail in lieu of $30,000 bond.
A second raid was conducted Wednesday morning at 996 Northwestern Ave., off Willowdale Road. Jiles said the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office SRT assisted.
Officers found Charles J. Rutledge Jr., 50, of Morgantown, in bed, in a back bedroom, according to a criminal complaint.
Two large bundles of crack cocaine, a large bundle of heroin and two large bundles of U.S. currency were found in a gray hoodie in the closet of the back bedroom, a criminal complaint stated. A large crack rock was found in a green sweatshirt in the same closet.
In the living room were scales, powder cocaine on a small stand and several units of prepackaged heroin were found on the coach, according to the criminal complaint.
A bundle of money in a pair of green sweat pants was also discovered during the search.
Rutledge is charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and is being held in North Central Regional Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
Each count of possession with intent is punishable by one to five years in prison and/or a fine up to $15,000.
