On September 11, 2018, Gladys May Klink McGregor was carried by angels to Heaven. She was the daughter of Dollie and Alfred Klink, Sr.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William Harold “Mac” McGregor; beloved daughter, Gladys Elizabeth Ireland and great-grandson, Thomas “Tommy” Alexander Biddle.
She leaves behind her son, William Curtis “Bud” McGregor (wife Linda), of Brownfield, Pa.; Juanita Joy Johnson (husband Ken), of Lewisburg; Lynn Keener (ex-husband Harold), of Morgantown; and special grandson Paul Allen “Chip” Ireland (wife Barb), of Grafton; her sister, Lydia Penwell and brother, Alfred Klink Jr. (wife Ruth). Gladys was blessed with eight grandchildren, 15 greatgrandchildren and five step-great-great grandchildren.
Gladys fulfilled her youthful dream of becoming a nurse in October 1964, and worked at West Virginia University Hospital for 24 years and retired in 1988. Then in 1993, traveled to Twin Wells Indian School in Ariz. to be the school nurse. She left her position at the school to move to Elkins and at age 72 helped to start a new church.
Gladys loved the Lord and was a member of the Free Methodist Church for many years where she served as Sunday School teacher, taught crafts for Vacation Bible School and provided many beautiful flower arrangements and bulletin boards for the church. She was a helping hand or a listening ear for any who was in need. She read her Bible and prayed daily; a powerful prayer warrior.
A special thank you to all the staff at West Virginia Caring who cared for her in her last days.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home from 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 13, until the time of the funeral service at noon with Pastor Barbara Hamrick officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, in Westover.
In lieu of flowers, I am sure Gladys would want you to send a note of encouragement and love to someone who needs it.
