Riding high off a definitive 22-13 season-opening victory over Hampshire, Preston coach Jonathan Tennant has high hopes riding into battle against North Marion.
We have a lot of confidence going into this game,” Tennant said. “We had some young kids grow up last Friday, and we have to continue to grow and get better.”
Last year North Marion ran through the Knights 41-19 en route to a 6-4 finish. The Huskies were regarded as favorites for the Class AA playoffs heading into the season, but a 32-12 loss to Nicholas County in Week 1 proved a speed bump for the squad.
Now, the two teams will clash in a key early-season matchup that will speak a great deal on pressing subjects for each squad; most importantly for PHS, was their first win an anomaly, or is football back in business in Kingwood?
“We’re just going to come out and play with passion and energy and see how it goes,” Tennant said.
