“Granny” June Elizabeth (Stutler) Pierce, age 91, of Cassville, peacefully went to be with her Lord Tuesday, August 28, 2018. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Daughter of the late Franklin and Leta (Starcher) Stutler. June was born February 13, 1927, in Spencer. She attended University High School and after many years of loyal service she retired from West Virginia University. Along with her own children, June had a helping hand in the upbringing of many children of the Cassville community. She was a member of Fox Chapel where she loved spending time with the youth at camp. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family especially “running away” on day trips with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. June was considered Granny to all who knew her.
June is survived by her three children, Sue Wolfe, Linda and husband John Weber, and Frank Pierce; four grandchildren, Brandon Wolfe, Shawna and Husband Bill Hedrick, Tony and wife Mandy Weber, and Melinda and Husband Brandon Sickles; seven great-grandchildren, Layla and Gram Hedrick, Hannah and Paden Weber, and Chloe, Bryce, and Carlie Sickles, all of Morgantown and several beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Pierce; an infant daughter, Patricia; two sisters, Phillis Fochalis and Frances Pride; three brothers, Brooks “Cow” Stutler, Howard “Tracy” Stutler and Marshall Stutler; and a son-in-law, Paul Wolfe.
In lieu of flowers, June requested that memorial donations be made to a children’s charity of your choice.
Family and friends will be received at Fred Jenkins Funeral Home, from 4 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 30. Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. on Friday, August 31, until the time of the service at 11 a.m. with Pastor James Weber. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
