MORGANTOWN — Ava Dobbs scored on a corner kick to give the Morgantown High girls’ soccer team a 1-0 victory against Buckhannon-Upshur on Thursday.
Michaela August took the corner kick for the Mohigans (2-0).
MHS goalkeeper Jess Jones recorded three saves in the win.
The Mohigans travel to George Washington, at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The University Hawks boys soccer team (2-0-0) hosted the Parkersburg South Patriots (0-1-1) on Thursday night and cruised to a 7-0 victory. The Patriots porous defense was no match for the Hawks attack who had 18 shots with 13 of those on frame.

Joseph Biafora scored twice to lead the Hawks.
Mason Shockley also scored two goals, while teammates Brock Pickett and Wyatt Nett also added goals.
The Hawks’ final score came in the 78th minute from a Patriots own goal.
The UHS defense allowed just three shots and goalkeeper Tim Bailey saved a penalty-kick attempt fot the shutout.
The Hawks (2-0) have their third game in four days today, as they host Martinsburg.
