Opal Louise Fillman, 92, of Port Washington, Ohio, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Union Hospital, in Dover, Ohio. She was born Tuesday, November 17, 1925, in Isleta, N.M., to the late Russel and Marilda (Patterson) Long.
She was a housewife. She loved to travel, go camping, watching WVU basketball and her cat Friskers. She was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ, of Port Washington and the Eastern Star – Port Washington chapter of Gnadenhutten.
On March 29, 1943, she married Jack H. Fillman, who passed away May 3, 1993.
She is survived by one son, Alvin Fillman, of Port Washington, Ohio; three daughters, Sheryl Maple, of Port Washington, Ohio Pamela Taylor, of New Philadelphia, Ohio and June (Bob) Huggins, of Morgantown; her grandchildren, Kevin (Joanna) and Kim (Stacey) Fillman, Shad (Meggan) Stroup, Jarrod (Stephanie) and Stephanie Stephen, Kari (Garry) Grubb, Lance Taylor, Jenna and Jacque Huggins; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Norma Schreiner.
She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Carole (Ross) Fillman; a son-in-law, Randy Maple; and three sisters, Winefred, Ellen, and Ethel.
Visitation will be at Addy Funeral Home, in Newcomerstown, Ohio, from 5 – 8 p.m. on Monday, August 20. Visitation will continue at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, in Port Washington, Ohio, from noon – 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, with the services to follow with Dr. Rev. Robert E. Buckley officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery.
