BRIDGEPORT — West Virginia Jazz Society’s (WVJS) autumn season of performances begins Aug. 18 in Bridgeport with an appearance by international acoustic group Veronneau in Mia Margherita Coal Fired Pizzeria’s private dining/music room.
The Washington, D.C.-based ensemble is led by vocalist, Lynn Veronneau, a native of Montreal, who is joined by guitarist and vocalist, Ken Avis, from near Liverpool, England, and guitarist, David Rosenblatt, a native of Brazil. The drummer and percussionist is Bruno Lucini, also from Brazil.
Their show is a blend of bossa nova, jazz, samba, swing and acoustic music performed in English, French, Spanish and Portugese. Kennedy Center, Strathmore, The Hamilton Hotel and Blues Alley.
Veronneau will perform 90-min sets at 6:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for dining. The cover charge is $10 per person per set. Reserved seating for the 36 available seats is highly recommended for this performance by phoning 304-808-6400 or email to: info@miamargherita.com.
Additional performances scheduled for the WVJS autumn season are: Decon Blues on Aug. 23 in Bridgeport; Mark Cappellini’s Jazz Italiano on Aug. 24 in Clarksburg at Washington Square, and Aug. 25 in Morgantown at the Marriott Hotel; Brian Wolfe in a venue to be determined Sept. 16.
The series continues with Sean Nowell & The Kung Fu Masters on Oct. 19 in Bridgeport, and Oct. 20 in El Gran Sabor in Elkins; The SHEroes on Oct. 28 in Bridgeport; East Of Hollywood and The Grey Agents on Nov. 10 in the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center in Clarksburg, and the Holiday Jazz Stroll on Dec. 8 in Clarksburg.
The Aug. 25 performance by Mark Cappellini’s Jazz Italiano in Bourbon Prime, the high end restaurant and lounge in the Waterfront Marriott Hotel in Morgantown, will be the first in a series of special jazz performances scheduled by WVJS and the hotel.
