MORGANTOWN — A River Road volunteer firefighter is the parade marshal for the event to kick off the 2018 Monongalia County Fair.
Deborah Rinehart is the longest-serving, active female firefighter in Mon County. She followed her brothers into firefighting in 1987 and is a captain and secretary/treasurer at River Road VFD.
She’ll lead the parade down High Street at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
The fair opens 5 p.m. Tuesday at Mylan Park.
The all-inclusive admission fee of $10 per person includes parking, exhibits, Gambill amusement rides, live entertainment and the motorsports. Children under 1 year are admitted free.
Admission will be at the gate and only cash will be accepted.
Activities include all the regular fair fun such as livestock shows, pageants, carnival rides and food.
Area residents are asked to showcase homemade and home-grown items at the fair. Produce, crafts and culinary contests are open and those entered will compete for for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons in variety of categories.
