Morgantown Post 2, Romney split a doubleheader

ROMNEY — Colton Matthews and Devon Neal drove in three runs each July 21 to help Morgantown Post 2 earn an 11-4 victory and split an American Legion baseball doubleheader with Romney Post 91.
Matthews had three of Morgantown’s 13 hits and Clay Maholic scored three runs in the win. Andrew Berry had a hit, drew three walks and drove in two runs.
Cam Stoldt was the winning pitcher, going 5 2/3 innings and allowing six hits, a walk and three runs.
Morgantown surged ahead with a six-run second inning and cruised, adding two more runs in the fifth and three in the seventh.
Neal collected two RBIs, and Maholic and Caleb Taylor each had two of Post 2’s nine hits in an 11-5 loss.
Romney broke a 2-2 tie with seven runs in the bottom of the third inning. Post 2 hurt itself by committing five errors.
