KINGWOOD — The First Energy Foundation gave the Preston County Caring Council $1,000 this week for its Underprivileged Children Fund.
Libby Durr, manager of External Affairs for the First Energy Foundation, presented the check to Caring Council Director Barb Thorn and Starting Points Director Kay DeWitt.
Durr said the foundation looks for organizations that support the community.
“We know the Caring Council programs support a lot of people in the community,” she said.
Thorn said the donation will go to provide clothing, shoes, coats, hats and gloves for Preston County schoolchildren.
“We work with school counselors to identify children who need clothing,” she said. “It can be anything from underwear to coats and shoes.”
Thorn said she appreciates the First Energy Foundation’s support.
“They support us with this [donation] every year,” Thorn said. “Every year the needs grow. We are very appreciative of their support.”
