FAIRMONT — Morgantown Post 2 held on to win a thriller Thursday night (July 12), against Fairmont.
Post 2 scored three runs in the top of the 10th and got out of a bases loaded, no out situation in the bottom of the frame unscathed to hold on to win, 7-4.
Gavin Cottle relieved Colton Matthews on the mound in the seventh inning, pitching four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and picking up the win.
Offensively, Ethan Smith led Morgantown with two RBIs. It was a balanced effort the rest of the way, with RBIs from Cottle, Caleb Taylor, Devon Neal and Chandler Watts. Taylor, Clay Maholic and Andrew Berry socked doubles.
Post 2 will continue its season today (July 13), hosting Garrett County at 7 p.m. at Mylan Park.
