BRIDGEPORT — Caleb Taylor had himself a heck of a day Wednesday July 11.
In leading the Morgantown Post 2 American Legion baseball team to a 6-4 victory against Bridgeport, Taylor hit a home run and a double, drove in three runs and also pitched five shutout innings to pick up the win on the mound.
Post 2 held a 6-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning.
Bridgeport’s Nate Cole smacked a three-run home run to help Bridgeport out in the ninth, but Post 2 held on for the win.
Colton Matthews had two hits and drove in a run and Ethan Smith also had an RBI for Morgantown.
On the mound, Taylor walked three and struck out five over five innings. Smith started the seventh inning and gave up the four runs, but none were earned.
Post 2 travels to Fairmont, at 7 p.m. today (July 12).
