MORGANTOWN — Maryland State Police is not releasing any new information about a fatal crash involving Morgantown residents, The Dominion Post was told Tuesday.
Maryland State Police Cpl. D. Zanoni confirmed two children died as a result of the accident. He also said there was a change in who investigators believe was driving the vehicle carrying six on July 3, when it crashed on Interstate 68, near Friendsville, Md. He would not release the names of the juveniles killed in the wreck.
It’s now believed that Joshua Murray, 40, of Morgantown, was driving, Zanoni said Tuesday.
The initial press release from Maryland State Police stated Crystal Adams, of Morgantown, was driving eastbound on Interstate 68, when she lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle then struck an embankment and rolled over several times, ejecting five of its six occupants.
“We have evidence that she was not driving,” Zanoni said Tuesday.
A 13-year-old passenger died while being transported to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital and a 12-year-old, who was flown to Ruby with life-threatening injuries, died July 5, Zanoni said.
He said he could not release the names of the deceased because they are minors.
In Sunday’s edition of The Dominion Post, an obituary for Tyler Murray, 13, stated he died July 3 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
The newspaper also carried a obituary on Tuesday for Kyra Adams, 12, indicating she died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. According to the obituary, she is survived by Crystal Adams, her mother.
Zanoni referred questions about possible charges to State’s Attorney for Garrett County Lisa Thayer-Welch.
She said no charges can be filed until the investigation is complete.
