MORGANTOWN — A Maryland man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting two teenagers at a Grafton hotel was arrested Tuesday in Florida.
The U.S. Marshal Service arrested Xavier Ramos, 34, of Oxon Hill, Md., was arrested Tuesday morning near Jacksonville, Fla., a Department of Justice press release stated.
The Grafton Police Department wanted Ramos for multiple charges related to kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor, stemming from a 2013 incident where he allegedly kidnapped two teenagers and held them against their will in a hotel room in Grafton. Ramos and Alex Sander Orellana-Cruz allegedly sexually assaulted the two victims, ages 14 and 16, during the kidnapping, the release stated.
Ramos is believed to have left Grafton and returned to Maryland immediately after the alleged crime, but attempts to locate him were unsuccessful.
Five years later, Northern District of West Virginia Marshals discovered Ramos was working construction near Jacksonville.
Ramos was spotted at a work site by investigators and was arrested at a nearby gas station.
According to the release, Ramos will face extradition proceedings in Jacksonville and return to West Virginia.
