KINGWOOD — A ceremony to swear in new Preston County Board of Education members was held during a special meeting Monday morning.
Sworn in were two reelected board members, Jack Keim and Mac McCrum, along with newly elected board members, Jeff Zigray.
The ceremony took place at the Preston County Board of Education building. Following the ceremony board members elected Keim as Board President and Pam Feathers as Vice President.
In other business, board members voted unanimously to move their monthly meeting time from 6pm to 5pm. Superintendent of Schools Stephen L. Wotring said he was told the time change might result in more people attending the meetings.
“I was told most businesses no longer run on a 9-to-5 schedule and we might have more people attending the meetings if they could stop on their way home from work,” he said. Wotring said 5 p.m. would also work better for people attending the LSIC meetings.
“I believe the meetings should continue being held at the schools,” Keim said. “That gives us a chance to see the conditions at the school and what they have to work on,” he said.
Board members also unanimously voted to continue holding their meetings the second and fourth Monday of each month.
